As someone who enjoys both outdoor adventures and casual outings around town, I’m always on the hunt for versatile, comfortable shorts. So when KÜHL offered Brady and me the chance to try their shorts, I couldn’t wait to give them a go!
I chose the Kontour 4″ Skinny Shorts in the Harvest color. Their selection of hues was impressive, and picking just one was a challenge!

Comfort and Versatility
I’ve been wearing these shorts non-stop for the past few weeks, and I couldn’t be more pleased. The stretch fabric makes them incredibly comfortable, perfect for everything from outdoor activities to casual wear. The color options, particularly the earthy tones, add to the appeal.
This review is based on the 4-inch inseam, but if you prefer more coverage, KÜHL also offers the same style in an 8-inch inseam. While I love the design and comfort of these shorts, they do tend to run slightly small, so I recommend sizing up.
The shorts are equipped with both a zipper and a snap button for secure closure, along with an internal drawcord at the waistband to adjust the fit. While they fit me snugly, this feature can be handy if you’re planning on long hikes or intense physical activities. For shorter day hikes, however, they work perfectly. I’ve also worn them casually when out with friends, and I’ve received numerous compliments.
The fabric is flattering and form-fitting, and the shorts feature four pockets—two in the front and two in the back. While the pockets could be a bit roomier (which seems to be a common issue with women’s shorts), they’re still functional. I can comfortably fit my wallet and keys, but my iPhone 12 Pro Max is too large to fit.
Fabric and Comfort
From the moment I received the shorts, I noticed how comfortable and soft the fabric looked. After wearing them, I was happy to find that my initial impression was correct. The fabric feels sturdy yet soft, making these shorts ideal for light day hikes. The stretchy material allows for freedom of movement, although it’s not moisture-wicking. They do dry quickly under the sun, which is a bonus.
Durability
Although the fabric isn’t as breathable as some athletic wear, I’ve been impressed by how durable these shorts are. I’m known for being tough on my clothes—if something can be damaged, I’ll find a way—but these shorts have held up remarkably well. Despite owning them for only a few months, they still look brand new. I’ve worn them for hiking trips and yard work, and there’s not a single sign of wear. They also maintain their fit perfectly, with no sagging or wrinkles. This is a big win for me since I prefer to buy clothes that last and don’t have to replace them frequently. If you’re looking for a sustainable option, these shorts are a great choice.
Final Thoughts
In conclusion, I highly recommend the KÜHL Kontour Skinny Shorts. They perfectly combine style and practicality, which can be hard to find in women’s activewear. These shorts have been my go-to this summer, and given how well they’ve held up, I expect to keep wearing them for a long time. Even though they were gifted to me, I would absolutely purchase another pair, possibly in the Seagrass color, which was my runner-up choice.
